HOW I ORGANIZED A SMALL CLOSET THAT MADE ME CRAZY
In my house there is an afterthought closet in the Master Bathroom.
So much of an afterthought, in fact, I’m positive when my house was built someone said “Uh oh! We forgot to put a closet in there!” So they installed a few shelves in the only place they would fit (probably using the scraps from all the other closet shelving), cut a door in half (literally–and completely off center), and declared it done.
Better than nothing, right?
There was enough space for some basic storage–a couple of towels, toilet paper and cleaning supplies. But for a Master Bathroom?
Needless to say, it took about two weeks for chaos to take over and rule for the next seventeen years.
No kidding.
I TRIED to make an effort at organization by adding a Lazy Susan and a few baskets but there just wasn’t room to utilize these efficiently. I had absolutely no idea what was stashed at the back of those shelves.
SEE FOR YOURSELF:
At first glance, you’re probably thinking it doesn’t really look THAT bad. At least things aren’t falling out, right? But being greeted by this mess first thing every morning (since the door can’t seem to stay closed) wasn’t how I wanted to start my day and it was making me nuts.
So, after my great success using the Kondo Method in my kitchen, READ ABOUT IT HERE, I decided to apply what I learned again.
Check out these pics.

It’s simply amazing the sense of relief just getting this one hot spot under control could bring! Looks like Marie Kondo was absolutely right.
Two projects down and the rest of the house to go!

I am going to have to read about that method now — I have a few closets of my own that drive me nuts. Your closet looks great!
